An Andon is a portable lantern equipped with an oil-fed light source.

The Ariake Andon also has a slip-on box.

In the house, the actual lamp is placed on the box. It can be pushed over the lamp for transport.

Incl. lamp holder, without bulb, here I have taken care not to make any changes to the lantern.

The lamp is in good original condition.

Lamps

Antique Japanese lamps made of wood, bamboo and paper are rarely found in good condition. Maybe the daily use and the open fire have paid their tribute to the sensitive materials.
In contrast, the hanging lanterns made of cast iron or bronze, which can still be found today at the temples, but also in a private context.

We can offer a few pieces that are eye-catchers and also match very well with modern interior design.
The electric/lamp socket supplied by me always takes the continuance into consideration, since a dismantling must be possible without much damage.

I am always looking for these pieces because of the variety of shapes.

Mostly these lamps were equipped with oil, rarely with candles (because too expensive).

Here are two examples:
1st Ariake andon is a portable lamp lantern which is in a box during transport. In the house the lantern is then placed on top of it.
2nd Enzo Andon: are cylindrical lamps, one half of which can be rotated behind the other, thus allowing access to the lamp. Often equipped with a bottom drawer, which can hold the wicks.
