We import our track rollers directly from Japan. They were developed there especially for Shoji, since the old kind of the guidance in wooden strips can often lead to a somewhat cumbersome use. Often there are jams, which are also alleviated there by the insertion of plastic strips.
The running strips I manufacture in my workshop.
Many Japanese lovers might miss the sound of scraping the Shoji in the wooden guides when using these rollers. To these customers the classic construction method is more likely to be recommend: wood on wood. Or of course also for tea rooms where the blunt sound of the Shoji hitting the post, which occurs when closing the doors, is heard.
Here, however, also the advantages of the rollers:
1. the shape of the V-profile makes clamping impossible
2. running very easy
3. height adjustable
4. runners not sharp-edged.
5. easy to clean
6. also for Shoji that exceed the ratio of 1 to 2
