Tatami without border: approx. 9 to 12 weeks
The heavy version of our Tatami has an extremely compacted core of rice straw, which is covered with a woven Igusa grass mat (Omote) and has a black border (Beri) on the long sides as standard.
Ideally suited for rooms where the floors are more heavily walked on or where, for example, martial arts are practiced.
For tea rooms it is possible to have a cutout for the fireplace (ro) worked into the Tatami. For this a dimensioned sketch would be necessary in the plan view, so that this cutout is then also worked into the correct size and location.
Thickness: 5.5 cm / Weight: approx. 18.5 kg/square meter
For a surcharge of 10,00 € you get the mats with COLOURED woven borders on the two edges.
For an extra charge of 12 € per tatami, your mats (within the dimensions 200/100 cm) can also be made WITHOUT beri.

The smell, an important topic!
Please note that the Tatami with straw filling and the surface of Igusa grass is a natural product which has its own special smell, which does not appeal to all people, but which is inseparably connected with Japan. This smell, especially on the surface, remains!
